Michael J Dear website

Michael Dear is an emeritus professor of City and Regional Planning in the College of Environmental Design at the University of California, Berkeley. The breadth of his research and work includes LA urbanism, the US/Mexico border, geohumanities, and issues of homelessness. In 2013 he published the book Why Walls Won’t Work detailing the history and current state of the US-Mexico borderlands, and the dynamic third nation that connects the two nations.

Klarquist has worked with Professor Dear since 2013, initially in collaboration with his publisher, Oxford University Press, and UC Berkeley to help publicize his book, Why Walls Won’t Work. In addition, we developed a thought leadership strategy and website to build visibility for Dear’s borderlands expertise and, in 2020, created and launched a new website highlighting the full range his accomplishments.
